THOSE IN THE SKILLED NURSING PROFESSION
have had to face the changing nature of providing for older and disabled Ohioans for a long time. In its efforts to better address those changes, a coalition has been formed among the organizations representing not for profit and for profit Skilled Nursing Facilities.
The coalition, the Skilled Nursing Care Coalition, is comprised of three associations that represent the continuum of care providers and residents served by them. Those associations are AOPHA, the Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA) and the Ohio Academy of Nursing Homes (OANH). The primary focus of the coalition is to:
| 1. |
advocate for fair and reasonable government funding for frail seniors who rely on government for their health care needs in whatever setting they choose and in which their needs can be reasonably accommodated. |
| 2. |
provide education for state elected officials, state agencies, the media and the public on the changing field of senior services, particularly the change of skilled nursing facilities to the post acute care centers they have become.
|
The Skilled Nursing Care Coalition is committed to ensuring that older and disabled Ohioans have quality care across the continuum.
